Alberta health-care workers can book vaccine appointments starting Monday

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Health care workers in Alberta will be eligible to book COVID-19 vaccines beginning Monday, the province announced in a release.
More than 240,000 healthcare workers will qualify for the vaccine as part of Phase 2C of the province’s vaccine rollout.
Eligible healthcare workers include doctors, nurses, dentists, optometrists, paramedics, pharmacists, chiropractors, midwives, naturopaths, social workers and anyone else providing direct patient care.

“By protecting health-care workers, we are helping protect the vulnerable Albertans that they care for every day,” said Minister of Health Tyler Shandro in a release. “This is another step forward as we continue to administer the vaccines as quickly as we receive them.”

The province says appointments can be booked through participating pharmacies or through Alberta Health Services online or by dialling 811.
Health-care workers will need to provide proof of eligibility, such as personal I.D. that shows the birth date along with proof of employment or professional registration upon arrival at immunization appointments.
Other Albertans will be eligible for inoculations at a later point in Phase 2C, such as workers, residents or support staff at meat-packing plants, correctional facilities, homeless shelters and more.
