Kenney confirms two staff members positive for COVID-19

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Two members of Premier Jason Kenney’s staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

The premier broke the news during Question Period in the legislature on Tuesday, after denying to release information to the media last week.

“I’m aware of two members of my staff who have tested positive and are in self-isolation as are their close contacts. They’re rigorously following all of the proper protocols per Alberta Health guidelines.”

Kenney would not say if any members of his cabinet are involved but that the close contacts of his staff members have tested negative.

The NDP criticized Kenney for a lack of transparency saying there should have been public notification of COVID-19 cases in the legislature, without naming the individuals directly.

Kenney immediately fired back at the NDP, accusing them of trying to send internet trolls to attack people for being sick.
