Alberta identifies 1,437 new COVID cases, including 932 variants of concern

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The province of Alberta reported 1,437 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths in Sunday afternoon’s update.
Of these new cases, 932 represent variants of concern. Those variants now make up roughly 61 per cent of all active cases in the province.
The positivity rate in Alberta is currently sitting at 8.9 per cent.
In her tweeted update, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said 594 people are hospitalized, including 140 in intensive care.
