Northeast Calgary fire guts unoccupied home

CALGARY — A fire in the northeast Calgary community of Saddleridge destroyed a home on Thursday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m. fire crews were called to the home along 85 Avenue N.E., and en route, large volumes of smoke could be seen coming from the area of the home, which triggered a second alarm to provide more resources in the fight.

Upon arrival, crews found one home to be completely engulfed in flames. Both crews then worked to keep the fire to just the single home.
