Alberta identifies 410 new COVID-19 cases, 435 people in hospital

CALGARY — Alberta reported 410 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday following more than 8,300 tests.
The province continues to see a decrease in active cases, with 6,305 current infections.

Hospitalizations also saw another slight decrease, with 435 people in hospital, a decrease of three people from Tuesday. There are 122 people in the ICU.
On Wednesday, four additional deaths were reported in Alberta. One previously reported death was discovered to not have been as a result of COVID-19, so Alberta Health has removed it from the province’s total count.
There have been 2,231 total deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta.
The province announced on Tuesday it would, once again, be testing all COVID-19 cases for variants going forward.
Of the new infections reported on Wednesday, 300 are variant cases.
As for vaccinations in Alberta, an additional 24,260 vaccine dose were administered in the province, bringing the total number of doses administered to 2.84 million.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 64 per cent of the eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with nearly 11 per cent full vaccinated with two doses.
