Woman dies after drowning in Oldman River

LETHBRIDGE – A 42-year-old woman is dead after drowning in a river near Lethbridge.
On Monday, Lethbridge emergency services received a call of a woman failing to resurface from the Oldman River while swimming with friends.
Her friends say she was having trouble with the current, and they tried to reach her but lost sight of her a short time later.
Crews from two stations, as well as the Zodiac rescue boat, responded to the scene.

Fire Paramedics took their efforts to the Paradise Canyon Golf Course in an attempt to bring the victim to shore.
Once they were able to locate her, they attempted to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful.
Residents of the area are being reminded to use extreme caution in and around the river as a fun outing can turn deadly in a matter of seconds.
