CALGARY – A coyote that was recently put down for attacking people in the northwest neighbourhood of Tuscany will be tested for rabies.
Ward 1 Councillor Ward Sutherland wrote in a post to the community Facebook group that the autopsy will confirm if the canine was infected.
“Rabies can be contagious and it is important to have confirmation,” Sutherland wrote.

He goes on to say that there are other coyotes in the area that don’t have behavioural issues and it’s important Calgarians respect their space.
“It is valuable to call 311 and let them know locations of coyotes and bobcats, this is for the city tracking system.”
Sutherland reminded people, again, not to feed wildlife in the area as it can draw more animals into Calgary communities.
