Motorcyclist dead following fiery crash in NW Calgary

CALGARY – One man is dead after a motorcycle crash that ended in flames in the northwest neighbourhood of Capitol Hill.

A man in his 30s was riding his motorbike with his wife when they crashed with an SUV on 14 Street near 20 Avenue just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

Both riders were thrown from the bike and both vehicles immediately caught on fire.

The people on the motorbike were rushed to the hospital, where the driver succumbed to his injuries.

The passenger remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

Police don’t know for sure yet what caused the collision but they say they are investigating if speed and alcohol were factors.
