Calgary man wins $2M Western 649 prize

CALGARY – A Calgary man is $2 million richer after winning the June 2 Western 649 draw.
John Kruse, a frequent lotto player, says he checked his lottery numbers early one morning.
After he realized he’d won, he turned to his wife to wake her up.
“It’s funny because she said she wasn’t going to wake up for anything less than $1,000,” he said in a release.
“She got up pretty quickly when I told her we won a million dollars!”
He says he plans to share his winnings with his family and he and his wife want to go to Mexico when it’s safe to travel again.
Kruse says he picked his lucky winning numbers, which were 3, 12, 14, 18, 19, and 47, based on a combination of family birthdays.
