Fire ban issued for Banff National Park

BANFF – A fire ban has been issued for Banff National Park.
The park says the move was made because of elevated fire danger in the mountain parks.

If you’re staycationing in the area, it means no campfires at sites within the park.
Visitors are still allowed to use gas barbecues and lanterns.
You can also still use a portable propane fire pit or any gas-powered patio heaters.
The ban covers the entire national park including all front and backcountry campgrounds and day-use areas and it includes other parks like Yoho and Kootenay National Parks.
If you’re caught breaking the ban, you could be kicked out of the park and fined up to $25,000.
