EDMONTON – Alberta Health Services says it will be closing some of its mass vaccination clinics in favor of focusing on small community sites.
The rapid-flow sites in Calgary and Edmonton will be open for about another week and a half.
Edmonton’s EXPO Centre location will close at 8 p.m. on July 29. The Telus Convention Centre in Calgary will close at 8 p.m. on July 30.
“COVID-19 case numbers are significantly lower throughout the province. Demand for immunization continues; however, rapid flow clinics are no longer needed given the increasing percentage of the immunized population,” AHS said in a release.

Staff supporting the mass rapid-flow clinics will be transferred to work at smaller AHS immunization clinics where possible.
Smaller immunization clinics in both cities will remain open for Albertans looking to get a shot.
You can also book an appointment to get vaccinated at several local doctor’s offices and pharmacies.
Since opening in April, staff at the EXPO Centre have given out over 143,700 shots and staff at the Telus Convention Centre have provided over 400,000 shots.
More than 5 million doses have been given to Albertans to date.
