Airdrie 19-year-old hit with handful of gun charges after traffic stop

AIRDRIE – A 19-year-old man is facing a handful of charges after RCMP pulled him over and found a loaded gun in his car.
RCMP in Airdrie say they pulled over a car around 11:20 p.m. on July 25 in the Kings Heights neighbourhood.
After an investigation, police found a loaded semi-automatic pistol, which had been reported stolen, an overcapacity magazine, and 0.4 grams of crack cocaine.
As a result, the driver was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The 19-year-old has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Septempber.
