Crash near Okotoks sends 72-year-old to hospital

OKOTOKS — RCMP are investigating after one man was taken to hospital following a collision near Okotoks on Thursday.
Around 7:45 p.m., an EMS crew came across a crash on Big Rock Trail near 378 Avenue in Foothills County. Immediately, RCMP, fire crews and STARS air ambulance were dispatched.
Police say an early investigation into the collision shows a pick-up truck that was travelling westbound tried to pass slower vehicles in front of them, sending them into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the pickup swerved and lost control, causing them to hit another vehicle in the westbound lane.
The collision caused the truck to roll several times before coming to a stop. The 72-year-old driver, who was the lone person in the truck, was extricated by fire crews and transported to hospital by STARS.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit was not injured.
