CALGARY — Two families are without a home after a fire damaged two houses in the southeast community of Auburn Bay on Friday.
Just before 1 p.m., crews were called to Auburn Glen Lane after reports that one home was on fire and flames were reaching a neighbouring house.
Seven people were forced from the two homes as a result of the fire.
“No reports of any animals, everyone safely evacuated prior to CFD’s arrival,” said Battalion Chief Bruce Barr.

Barr says about 40 firefighters and 17 pieces of equipment were needed to battle the fire.
With the current temperatures, Barr says the heat warning was another factor crews had to battle.
“We were rotating crews to ensure there wasn’t any dehydration or heat-related issues.”
Investigators are still working to figure out what started the fire.
