No charges following deadly central Alberta home invasion

BLACKFALDS – No charges will be laid following a fatal break-and-enter north of Calgary earlier this week.

On Monday, the RCMP was called to Blackfalds shortly after 3 p.m. for reports of a home invasion.

When Mounties got there, they found the homeowner, who was injured and bleeding, and another man at the house dead.

Police say witnesses told them that the homeowner had arrived home and found the intruder sleeping inside.

The homeowner and suspect got into a fight, where the homeowner was beaten with a baseball bat.

During the assault, he managed to grab a gun and shoot his attacker, who would die from a single gunshot wound.

Following the investigation, police say there will be no charges laid against the homeowner.
