Alberta spending $36M on upgrades at Calgary courthouses, correctional centres

CALGARY – The Calgary courthouse, old court of appeal building, as well as the correctional and remand centres will be undergoing some much-needed renovations.

The province is spending 36 million dollars on capital maintenance and renewal projects.

The funds are coming from the accelerated capital maintenance and renewal initiative.

Ten million dollars of the cost is being shared by the province and federal government.

Some of the work includes repairing heating, ventilation, and air systems, replacing roofs and mechanical system controls, as well as upgrading to new high-efficiency boilers.

The upgrades will create 200 jobs.
