OKOTOKS – One of Calgary’s border communities is under a pair of water advisories to start the week.
The Town of Okotoks is warning people living in the northern part of the town to boil their water before using or consuming it due to a loss of water pressure in the area.
“This is a precautionary measure that should be followed until further notice and we want to thank those impacted by this advisory for their support and patience as we work through flushing and water quality testing to confirm the safety of the water,” said Operations and Water Utilities Director Chris Radford.
Meantime, a complete outdoor water ban has been issued for the rest of the town.
The town is asking everyone there to stop watering their lawns and outdoor gardens immediately.

“We encourage everyone to continue to conserve water to help balance the system for all residents. The community response last week was fantastic and if we are able to be water wise together we can work through this,” the city wrote in its alert.
A leak is impacting water levels in the two local reservoirs and the unseasonably hot weather we’ve had all summer long has only amplified the issue.
