CALGARY — The Calgary Stampede says, as of Monday, it will require visitors to be either vaccinated or have proof of a negative COVID-19 test if they are attending events on the grounds.
It adds all employees and contractors need to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 25, while volunteers will also be required to have had the shot in order to participate in meetings and events at the park.
“We have worked diligently to adapt to the evolving environment in order to address the increased safety precautions required for live events, shows and exhibits,” the Stampede said in a letter to employees and volunteers. “The Stampede will look to implement the Restrictions Exemption Program as further clarity about the program comes to light”
The Stampede says the vaccine passport program, along with requiring employees and volunteers to be vaccinated, will be important to the measures the Stampede has implemented since the beginning of the pandemic.
Those measures include:
- Global Biorisk Advisory Council ® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation in October 2020, verifying the Calgary Stampede has implemented industry leading best practices.
- Limiting Park capacity and providing distanced seating options.
- Requiring all guest-facing employees and volunteers wear masks.
- Requiring proof of vaccination or a rapid test to enter Nashville North.
- Requiring Stampede personnel and rodeo athletes to participate in a testing and modified quarantine program.
- A vaccination incentive program for volunteers and employees.
