Here in Calgary, it’s medical and fitness testing, before the players start on-ice sessions Thursday at the Saddledome.

According to general manager Brad Treliving, two goalies are not taking part. Otherwise, the group at camp is 100 per cent vaccinated.

Good news when it comes to Sean Monahan (hip) and Noah Hanifin (shoulder).
Noah Hanifin and Sean Monahan are both ahead of schedule following surgeries earlier in 2021. Brad Treliving notes that the team “anticipates they will be full participants in camp.”

One of the big questions going into this season is who, if anyone, will wear the C after long-time captain Mark Giordano was selected by Seattle in the expansion draft.
“I don’t think you name a captain just so that you check a box and you say you have that stroked off the list,” Treliving explained.
“Darryl [Sutter] and I have talked a lot about it. That’s something that’s going to have to play itself out over camp, and we’ll see where we are over the coming days.”
