Someone fishing in the area saw the grizzly over the weekend. When they tried to move away, the bear followed the fisher. Eventually, the person had to use bear spray to deter the bear from coming any closer.

Officers are now trying to catch the bear in the area.

Fish and Wildlife says if you are heading out to the backcountry, you need to bring noisemakers, bear spray, or other deterrents to use if you encounter a bear.

If you come face to face with a grizzly, don’t run. Stay calm, speak in a soft low voice to let it know you’re not a predator, and back away from them slowly.

If you can, find a place to hide, like a car or a building if there is one nearby.
