CALGARY – One of two brothers convicted of kidnapping and raping a teen girl in Calgary has been denied parole.
Cody Manyshots, who is 28, appeared before the Parole Board of Canada Tuesday from Bowden Institution.
In denying full and day parole, the board says Manyshots presents an undue risk to society.
Cody and his brother Corey admitted they attacked a 17-year-old girl in November 2014.

The teenage girl was waiting for a bus in Taradale, when the brothers kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her in an alley, before forcing her to their home where they raped her another 15 times over eight hours.
The Grade 12 student was able to escape the next day when they fell asleep. Police were contacted by her family when she made it home.
In 2018, the brothers were sentenced to 12 years in prison for kidnapping, uttering threats, sexual assault causing bodily harm and robbery.
“Certainly one of the most depraved offences that I’ve ever been involved with. Just unmitigated evil, frankly,” Crown prosecutor Jonathan Hak had said after the sentencing.
Both brothers suffer from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and other impairments.

Their sentencing was delayed numerous times, as experts determined how those disabilities impacted their actions.
Court heard the brothers have poor cognitive function, low intelligence, and mental health issues. But that was not enough for the defence to argue they were not criminally responsible because of a mental disorder.
“These two men fell through the cracks of life,” Alain Hepner, Cody’s lawyer, told the court during the sentencing. “They didn’t stand a chance from the minute they were born.”
