Edmonton-area woman wins final $1M vaccine lottery prize

SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. – An Edmonton-area woman has claimed the final prize in Alberta’s Open For Summer COVID-19 vaccine lottery.
Hayley Hauck of Sherwood Park has her name drawn at random from more than 1,935,951 entries.
Over 620 Albertans have received lottery prizes including the three $1-million cash prizes, travel, sports, and entertainment prizes.

The lotteries may be done, but there is still a cash incentive for people who are still haven’t booked their first or second shots.
Albertans getting one of their COVID-19 vaccine doses can claim a $100 preloaded debit card if they get their shots before Oct. 14.

“We know that vaccines are safe and that they save lives, said Health Minster Jason Copping in a release.
“Now, more than ever, we need Albertans to step up and get both doses to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities.”
To date, 83.6 per cent of eligible Albertans have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, including 74.3 per cent who are now fully vaccinated with two doses.
