2021 Municipal Election breakdown: Ward 10

CALGARY — Northeast Calgary’s Ward 10 consists of eleven communities, bordered by the eastern city limits and south along Memorial Drive.

Ward 10 has been without proper representation for roughly a year.

“We felt in limbo a bit,” says Monterey Park Community Association President Lisa Rahimi.

She says it has been tough getting issues resolved since Ray Jones resigned in October of last year, citing health concerns.

Rahimi says it will be nice to have a new voice and new ideas on council.

As for concerns in the community, Rahimi with an older and diverse population says more proactive and preventative policing would be welcome.

“We have seen an uptick in crime, and not a lot of residents are comfortable reaching out to police to report suspicious activity.”
