CALGARY – Some of the orange barricades for temporary summer patios in downtown Calgary will be coming down this week.
The city says it sent letters to all restaurants or bars that have set up patios outlining the plans for removal last month.
When a snowfall of more than three centimetres is in the forecast, restaurants will have 72 hours to remove the sidewalk patio so the barricade can be removed.

With the cold weather here, several restaurants on 4 Street and 17 Ave. SW have already removed the patio portion on the sidewalk, and crews will then remove the detours and barricades this week.
Earlier this year, council decided to make the temporary patios permanent in summer months, but will change some of the rules over where they are set up.
