Calgary friend group claims $1M LOTTO MAX prize

A group of Calgary friends is splitting a $1 million LOTTO MAX prize.
Danny Tran says he was surprised to wake up after the June 11 draw to find out he had won one of the LOTTO MAX prizes.
Not only that, but he was surprised at just how much the prize was.
“I woke up to an email congratulating me for winning something,” he said. “At first I thought had won $1,000, but when I woke up a little more I realized it was a million dollars!”
Tran will be sharing the winnings with nine of his friends–but he didn’t break the news to them right away.
“I wanted to tell everyone when we could all be together on a video call,” he said. “The call got really quiet… and then really loud!”
He says everyone was really shocked as it is a lot to take in.
Tran says he’ll be putting his $100,000 cut toward the business he just recently started.
