Request for recount of municipal election results denied

The elections returning officer says there will be no recounts of Monday’s municipal election results.

The City of Calgary says there were four requests for recount submitted following the election.

These requests were for the recount of the elections for mayor and ward three, four and nine councillors.

The closest of these votes came in ward three, where incumbent Sean Chu beat out DJ Kelly by a mere 52 votes.

Following a lengthy decision, the returning officer says there are not sufficient grounds for any recounts.

Final results from Monday’s election will be released on Friday at 12 p.m.
