Saddledome hosts first concert in nearly two years

When country music star Eric Church takes the stage Friday night at the Saddledome, he will be the first to do so in nearly two years.

Back in February of 2020, Old Dominion rocked the walls of the ‘Dome, and little did anyone know that it would be the last show for a long time.

As news of the pandemic spread across the globe, sporting events, concerts and festivals were all brought to a halt.

For Calgary, before fans were allowed back into the stands for the 2021/22 NHL season, the walls of the Saddledome were left eerily quiet. So, needless to say, Church’s concert is certain to provide some well-needed relief for concert goers.

Church isn’t taking this opportunity for granted either, as he has vouched heavily to get the vaccine, and has tried to encourage fans to do so as well.

Those attending Friday night’s concert will still need to abide by the rules set out by Calgary Sports and Entertainment Group and provide proof of vaccination to enter the Saddledome.

After Friday, the next concert on the docket will be on Feb. 4 when the Arkells come to town.
