Alberta’s former minister for women is calling on the premier to resign after shocking allegations came to light in a new lawsuit from a former UCP staffer.
A former UCP chief of staff says the Legislature was a “poisoned” work environment and that there had been heavy drinking and sexual harassment on site.

UCP MLA Leela Aheer, who previously served as Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism & Status of Women, is calling for Jason Kenney’s resignation in light of the allegations.
“I want to take a moment to applaud (Ariella Kimmel) for her strength, and to demand the resignation of the premier,” Aheer said.
“This is a failure of leadership and a failure of being human.”

Aheer recalled her time with Kimmel, claiming she was Aheer’s “lifeline to the Premier’s office.”
“She’s competent, strong, beautiful, amazing and deserved to be treated with a completely different level of respect, especially given the situation.”
Aheer says she will remain in the UCP caucus as a way to try and change the culture from within.
