Calgary police catch driver excessively speeding through construction zone while impaired

Calgary police stopped what could have been a disastrous situation on the city’s roadways on Tuesday.
Officers tweeted a photo on Wednesday, showing off a car that was going 51 km/h over the speed limit through a construction zone in downtown Calgary.
That’s not all.
Our Traffic unit encountered a car speeding through a construction zone with workers present yesterday in downtown #yyc. Driving 51 km/h over the limit while impaired by drugs and alcohol could have led to disastrous consequences had our officer not intervened first. #SpeedKills pic.twitter.com/BFZ2NoVEyl

Police say the person had also been impaired by drugs and alcohol at the time.
“Driving 51 km/h over the limit while impaired by drugs or alcohol could have led to disastrous consequences had our officer not intervened first,” the tweet read.
