Hospitalizations, active COVID infections continue downward trend

It’s been over three weeks since Thanksgiving and Alberta has yet to see a rise in new COVID cases.
In fact, it’s seen quite the opposite, with active infections and hospitalizations continuing to trend downward.
On Thursday, the province reported 516 new cases of COVID-19 on more than 12,000 tests for a positivity rate of around 4.2 per cent.

In this week alone, active infections of COVID-19 have decreased by more than 1,000 cases.
On Monday there were 7,580 cases in Alberta. On Thursday, 6,515.
Hospitalizations also have seen a steady drop over the last few days.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are now 677 people in hospital, 146 of which are in the ICU.
Alberta Health also reporting four more people have died with COVID-19.
As of Thursday afternoon, more than 6.59 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta.
Of those 12 and older in the province, 87.3 per cent have received at least one dose, while 80.7 per cent are fully immunized.
