Police release CCTV footage, seek information in 2020 arson

Calgary police are looking for more information on a suspected arson from last year.

On Dec. 3, 2020, at around 4 a.m., emergency crews were called to Nolanfield Lane NW after several reports of a house that had caught fire.

The fire was brought under control, but not before several homes sustained extensive damages, with some being completely lost.

After an investigation, police are releasing CCTV footage from when the fire is believed to have been initially started.

The footage shows two people running from the scene of the fire immediately after it began.

The first suspect is described as a man with a medium build and wearing a hooded sweater.

The second suspect is also believed to be a man. Police say he has a slim build, was wearing a white jacket, black pants and white shoes.

“This fire had devastating impacts on multiple families and their homes,” said Staff Sergeant Rod Harbidge in a release. “Some residents lost everything, and we are asking for anyone with information to contact police. We believe someone in the community could have seen suspicious activity in the area of Nolanfield Lane prior to the fire breaking out and are hoping to speak to them.”

Anyone who has any information that could aid in the investigation is being asked to contact police.
