Man dead after falling through ice south of Calgary

One man is dead after falling through the ice on a lake south of Calgary on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Emerson Lake in the town of High River around 1:30 p.m. after reports of a man falling through the ice.
Town officials say crews managed to make it to the lake within four minutes of the call and used ice rescue equipment to enter the water.

Witnesses were able to help in locating where the man had fallen through.
The victim was taken to High River Hospital in critical, life-threatening condition. Unfortunately, he passed away a short time later.
The Town of High River is urging everyone to use caution around the town’s lakes to help avoid incidents like this.
