Wind warnings issued for most of southern Alberta including Calgary

A wind warning for the city of Calgary was issued Tuesday evening.
According to Environment Canada, strong, damaging westerly winds with gusts up to 110 km/h are expected or occurring for the southern Foothills.

Westerly winds were expected to strengthen overnight with gusts to 110 km/h possible.
Winds were set to taper off Wednesday morning.
The agency warned of the possibility of damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break, Environment Canada noted.
Wind warnings were also issued for many other areas across southern Alberta.
Highway 22 west of Claresholm between Highway 3 and Highway 533 has been completely closed due to strong winds leading to multiple rollovers with travel not advised.
