AirTag complaints on the rise in Fort Saskatchewan as devices get used for tracking purposes

It wasn’t the intended use of the product, but more and more we are seeing a dangerous use of the Apple AirTag.
The device, which is intended to be used to keep track of your personal belongings, is being placed on vehicles of strangers to see where they live and follow them.
That’s the case in Fort Saskatchewan where RCMP have been seen an increase of complaints related to the coin-sized tags.

People in the area believe AirTags are being placed on their cars for tracking purposes.
If you happen to get an AirTag notification on your iPhone that isn’t connected to your personal device, you are being asked to contact police.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on the misuse of the product to call RCMP at (780) 997-7900.
