Despite a mini thaw-over across southern Alberta over the weekend, Environment Canada is warning of another drop in temperatures to kick off the week.
The agency says temperatures could drop to -23 by Monday afternoon.
The windchill was already at -27 in Calgary Monday morning, with the risk of frostbite up for later in the day, according to CityNews weather specialists.
The extreme cold has resulted in dangerous driving conditions, after temperatures hit as high as 2 C over the weekend. New flurries are also adding to concerns.

Calgary says city crews are out clearing major routes, but urges motorists to take it slow and drive to conditions.
Extreme cold isn’t isolated to the southern part of the province. Warnings have been issued in northern Alberta, with Environment Canada saying wind chill values could hit between -40 and -50 in places like Fort McMurray.

“These extremely cold wind chill values will continue until the coming weekend,” the agency writes, once again urging people to cover up amid frostbite concerns.
