With ongoing construction, the City of Calgary will close the lower section of the Centre Street Bridge starting Feb. 28 for several months as that part of the 106-year-old structure is rebuilt.
The city says it’s spending $1.5 million to upgrade the lower deck to allow a safe and efficient crossing for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Starting Monday (Feb 28th), the lower deck of the centre street bridge will be closed until June for repair and maintenance. This closure is to all users. #yyc #calgary @citynewscalgary pic.twitter.com/gMVOZ6y7JI

The investment will replace the existing rail structure to be heightened and screens will be installed underneath the bridge.
The span will close on Feb. 28 and will remain in place until June 2022.
The Centre Street Bridge crosses the Bow River along Centre Street and was originally built in 1916.
