Calgary Transit app extended until new vendor can be found

Calgary Transit says there will be an extension of the trip planning app that riders can use until their new app gets released.

The current Calgary Transit app was going to be discontinued March 14 when the contract with the current vendor was supposed to end. But, Calgary Transit says that the contract has been extended until a new vendor for the app can be found.

“In terms of merging My Fare and a new app, we are still in the procurement process and evaluating the submissions that were received,” explains Stephen Tauro with Calgary Transit. “So, we are not able to comment on that until a vendor is selected.”

The transition to a new vendor will merge the trip planning app and My Fare, the mobile ticketing app, into one app to make it more convenient for transit riders.

Several commuters have expressed concern about how they would plan their trips without the easy tracking of the app, but this new information means they can continue using the app until the new one is ready.

There have been no further updates in regards to the development of the new app and when it is expected to be released.
