Alberta has announced 19 new conservation officers will be deployed across the province thanks to $1.5 million raised through the sales of the Kananaskis Conservation Pass.
19 new conservation officers will conserve and protect Alberta’s Crown lands through education, prevention and enforcement.

Conservation officers, often the most visible point of contact for visitors, typically respond to incidents, conduct patrols and deliver educational programs.
The officers represent an increase of about one-third of the existing force as a part of the government’s plan to get more “boots on the ground” – from 63 officers to 82.

Minister Nixon stands with Alberta’s newest conservation officers following their badge ceremony.
Jason Nixon, minister of environment and parks, attended the graduation ceremony Friday.
“With more Albertans than ever before exploring Alberta’s provincial parks and public lands, conservation officers have never been more important,” he said. “I am looking forward to seeing Alberta’s new class of officers in the field as we head into what is sure to be another busy season.”
The investment was part of Alberta’s recovery plan.
