One person dead after being hit by CTrain in Calgary’s southeast

One man is dead after being hit by a CTrain in Calgary’s southeast Thursday morning.
EMS say the incident happened around 11 a.m. at 39 Avenue Station.

The man in his 20s was transported in critical, life-threatening condition where he later died of his injuries.
Police tell CityNews it appears he tried to cross the CTrain tracks by hopping over the coupler that connects train cars while it was stopped, however, the train started moving.
“He was on the east platform, there was a train on the west platform heading south. He jumped down off the east platform across the tracks and attempted to crawl up onto the platform around the train, between the two cars,” said Sgt. Brad Norman with the Calgary Police Service.
Calgary Transit rerouted transit riders while police investigated. Roads in the area have since reopened.
