A serious Calgary crash shut down a busy intersection in the southwest quadrant of the city on Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at Sarcee Trail and Richmond Road SW around 6:30 a.m., according to EMS.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

At this time it isn’t clear what caused the crash.

Traffic was brought to a halt with the busy intersection mostly closed off all morning but has since been reopened.
