Charge laid in Radisson Heights homicide

Thirty-nine-year-old Tarek Che Sharples of Calgary has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 39-year-old Jamie O’Leary last week.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., on Friday, April 1, police were called to Radcliffe Close for reports of gunshots, where they found a man in life-threatening condition, who died shortly afterward.

An autopsy was conducted on April 4, confirming the victim as O’Leary.

Shortly after the homicide, investigators released CCTV images of a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting. The vehicle was located over the weekend leading police to take Sharples into custody.

According to police, the two men knew each other.

“This has been an incredibly busy time for our investigators who have dealt with six homicides over a two-week period,” said Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

Anyone with information in relation to any of the homicides that have occurred recently is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
