Calgary’s annual street sweeping begins April 18

The City is making its annual warning to the public that street sweeping is going ahead as planned next week

The spring street sweeping program begins on Monday morning.

This annual street cleaning program launches every Spring and its purpose is to remove sanding materials and debris that has accumulated on the roads during the winter months.

One benefit includes, for example, reducing water pollution and preventing run-off trickling into our local stormwater system, according to the City.

Sweeping happens Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and you’re asked to move your car during on-street parking bans.

If you don’t, chances are good you’ll be fined. And you likely won’t receive your ticket on your windshield.

The Calgary parking authority uses camera-equipped cars to enforce the restrictions and says if you get a ticket, it’ll come in the mail.

So, remember to move your car during on-street parking bans, or you could get towed and or fined.
