Giant colourful Easter eggs are on display and being set up today at Southcentre mall that will help raise money to help Ukrainians coming to Alberta.
Many are likely familiar with Ukrainian easter eggs called Pysanka.
Some of the eggs are part of a display titled ‘Puhsenka for Peace,’ and are a bit bigger roughly three to six feet tall and will be set up in the mall until the end of the month.
“For Easter, we write Ukrainian Easter eggs with dye and wax. This time we are doing three to six-foot eggs that are painted in the Puhsenka style and will be up at Southcentre mall,” explained Daena Diduck, one of the artists of the project.
The eggs are being auctioned to raise money for a charity that’s helping Ukrainians fleeing their country and settling in Alberta.
“It will be auctioned off and the money is going towards the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services which is a Canadian organization that does respond to the needs and interests of the Ukrainian community in Canada,” added Diduck.
