Canadian classic rock musician Jerry Doucette has died following a battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
The guitarist and singer passed away on Monday surrounded by family at a hospice in Delta, B.C.
Doucette grew up in Ontario, but moved to Vancouver where he was part of the music scene for many years.
After joining a number of bands, he made the decision to form his own, using his last name.
It didn’t take long for Doucette to become known after releasing the single ‘Mama Let Him Play’ on his album with the same name in the fall of 1977.
The track earned platinum status in Canada and charted in the United States.
