Calgary man arrested in relation to Temple homicide after Canada-wide warrant issued

A man wanted in relation to a homicide where a young mother was shot and killed in the northeast community of Temple last month has been arrested, Calgary police say. 

Thirty-seven-year-old Gerald Russell Frommelt was arrested and taken into custody on Friday at a home on 24 Street in the southwest community of Richmond.

On Thursday, April 7 around 7:15 p.m. police were called to a home along Templeview drive for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, 23-year-old Jaime Scheible was found unconscious, in medical distress. She later died from her injuries.

“After further investigation, we have determined that the victim and accused were recently in a relationship and we believe this to be a domestically-motivated homicide,” Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta had said. “This is a tragic death…”

The suspect was wanted on second-degree murder charges.
