Alberta part of Canada-wide survey to evaluate long-term effects of COVID-19

Provinces across Canada, including Alberta, will be part of an antibody and health survey.

The University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services are teaming up with the provincial government to gather more data on the long-term effects of COVID-19.

Canadians will be selected to participate and must be aged 18 and older. Test kits will be mailed to 100,000 people across all 10 provinces.

The survey invitations will be handed out in three waves with the first launched in April, the second in May, and the third in June.

Canadian COVID-19 Antibody and Health Survey (CCAHS) is collecting samples of blood and saliva through test kits.

Participants will then get a code to access an online questionnaire.

Chronic conditions, medication, health behaviour, and interactions with the health system are some of the topics that will be covered.

The goal is to learn more about COVID-19, how it affects people’s health, how it spreads, and whether Canadians are developing antibodies.
