Lynx Air announces cheap flights between Halifax and Calgary, Edmonton

Lynx Air says it’s offering new flights from Calgary and Edmonton to Halifax for as little as $59 dollars one-way including taxes, for a limited time.

Lynx calls them “through-flights,” which are not direct, and will operate via Toronto or Hamilton, “providing a seamless service with a single boarding pass and the ability to check bags through to the final destination.”

The budget airline says it will have five “through-flights” a week from Calgary to Halifax in both directions, which will start on July 14, while two “through-flights” a week each way from Edmonton to Halifax will start on July 30.

“Lynx is proud to be bringing competition and choice to beautiful Atlantic Canada,” said Merren McArthur, CEO of Lynx. “Halifax is Canada’s second largest coastal city, and gateway to beautiful Nova Scotia, renowned for its fresh seafood, striking lighthouses and stunning natural landscapes. We are excited to be offering more ultra-affordable travel options for people to visit this wonderful region.”

The announcement comes after Lynx said it was expanding flights to and from St John’s. The airline says both the Halifax and St. John’s announcements are in response to strong demand for flights to Atlantic Canada.

Lynx also says it’s celebrating by offering up to 50 per cent off base fares on all Halifax routes, a sale that will end on May 12 at 8:59 p.m. MT.
