What will the official bird of Calgary be? The vote for which bird will officially represent Calgary as its symbol will be announced soon.
The city tallied more than 36,000 votes, in a month-long contest involving five contenders and now a decision will be finally made this weekend.
The options included the black-capped chickadee, black-billed magpie, the northern flicker, red-breasted nuthatch, and lastly the blue jay!
The initiative was originally proposed by Bird-Friendly Calgary, Councillor Kourtney Penner in bringing forward the motion which had selected five candidates which would be voted on between April and May.
