Calgary’s ‘Ag for Life’ hosts virtual cooking lessons for children throughout the pandemic

A cooking lesson with a pinch of farming.

Agriculture advocacy group — Agriculture for Life (Ag for Life) — has been putting on virtual cooking lessons for kids and their families since the beginning of the pandemic.

CEO Luree Williamson says they have received some really great feedback since they started doing them at the beginning of the pandemic.

“If participants wanted to ask questions they could, and feel comfortable doing that. And the response was fantastic! We had families that signed up for every one of the classes [and] they loved it, they enjoyed it,” said Williamson.

One of the unique aspects of the show is that there is usually a farmer taking part in talking about how the different ingredients are produced on the show.

Williamson says they are now going to build on the success of the program through their initiative, The Story of Food shares insight into the different food grown and produced in Alberta.
