Calgary Flames fans take on random antics for playoff superstitions

CityNews Calgary is learning of some playoff superstitions, as fans pull out all stops to make sure the team makes it happen in game 7.

Maybe it’s not shaving or making sure that the same piece of clothing you wore when your team won stays unwashed. After all, you wouldn’t wash the luck off of it.

“Another interesting one is called the beverage superstition and it goes back to the days of Wayne Gretzky. So he would actually finish every single pre-game warm-up by drinking in this order: Diet Coke, water, Gatorade and Diet Coke,” said Sandra Prusina, Sports Anchor for CityNews Calgary.

CityNews also spoke to fans who tell us what they do for the win.

“Whoever I cheer for loses so I wear a referee’s jersey so I’m never wrong and I never lose. So I’m never wrong and I never lose. That’s gooder that goodest,” one fan told CityNews.

“It’s hockey I mean if they win while you’re winning that one jersey you’re always going to put on that same jersey.”

“I’m just sending out that positivity,” another fan said.

Here’s hoping the superstitions get the Flames the win for game 6.
